Obituary – Michael Kent Arnett

Michael departed this world March 15, 2024 in Chattanooga, TN. He was 82. Mike lived a life marked by love and hard work. Born in Pekin, IL to Ferdinand “Bus” and Erma Arnett, first of three boys in a family of eight girls, he was a joy. He graduated from Pekin High and from Wesleyan University in Bloomington. He worked in the insurance industry and moved to Indianapolis. He was quite the host for everyone in May for the big race. Mike, his brothers, and friends had an annual fishing trip to Canada, a resort formally owned by his parents.

He loved and supported his wife Carol, with unwavering devotion. He leaves behind daughters Lara Wickliff and Elizabeth Ashley Arnett and also a son, Michael Bellamy; siblings Patrick Arnett, Tim Arnett, Sally Parker, and Joyce Townsend; grandkids Ryan and Rachel Arnett; and nieces and nephews.

A devout Christian, faith was the cornerstone of his life. His belief in God guided him through joyous and challenging times. He was preceded in death by parents Ferdinand and Erma Arnett, his son Michael, grandson Zach Brown, sisters Moodene Whitmore, Carol Dorsey, Vivian Burress, Judy Courtright, Sue Terrill, and Janice Arnett.

His spirit lives in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
