PEKIN WOMAN’S CLUB

The next meeting of the Pekin Woman’s Club will be held Friday, May 8, at the First United Methodist Church, 1305 Court Street, Pekin. The event will begin at 12 noon with a luncheon catered by Shelly B’s. The menu will be Italian beef, chips, pasta salad, dessert, and beverages. Following the luncheon, the program will be presented by Nathan Hastings with Tazewell County Triad. He will be speaking on the “file of life” and senior safety. Recognition of the PWC past presidents will be held. Guests are welcome.

The 2026 recipient of the Pekin Woman’s Club scholarship is Hope Blair. Hope is a senior at Pekin Community High School. She will be attending Oklahoma State University. Her goal is to be the fifth generation and first woman to head the family trucking business. She is active in FFA at PCHS.

Plans for the summer fundraiser are continuing. The event, “Happy Birthday America!” will be held Saturday, August 8 at the First United Methodist Church. The event includes a luncheon, a mystery play, door prizes, and raffles. Tickets are $16 and available from any PWC members. Proceeds from the mystery luncheon will fund the scholarship as well as donations to various local nonprofit organizations.
