The Pekin Hometown Voice

IN THE SPOTLIGHT - Covenant Grows Its Business by Building Relationships

The name of the company seems straightforward enough: Covenant Heating and Air Conditioning. But general manager Chad Richmond said the Pekin-based company strives to be about more than selling and installing HVAC equipment, indoor air quality systems, and plumbing. He said Covenant works to build lasting relationships that help customers find the right products for their home and family.

The company has grown significantly over its 22 years in business, but Richmond said commercial success is only part of the story. “We’re not just focused on the numbers,” he said. “We’re focused on what customers are actually looking for in their homes.”

He has learned that, while a homeowner may say they need a new furnace, air conditioning system, or plumbing for a kitchen remodel, what they are really seeking is comfort, convenience, dependability, safety, and value. He said a dozen Covenant employees deliver all of it and more from the company’s home base at 412 Broadway Rd. in Pekin.

Richmond said customers in Pekin, Peoria, East Peoria, and surrounding communities, and as far away as Mason City and Lincoln, keep coming back to Covenant because the people they work with take the time to know them.

“We get a lot of repeat business because we do it right and they come back to us when they need something new,” he said. “We have people that have been with us for years.”

Heating and air conditioning upgrades are often about improving efficiency, reducing energy use, and saving money. As a registered Ameren program ally, Covenant can provide information about product incentives on smart thermostats, heat pumps, water heaters, and room air conditioners.

Covenant features natural gas and electric products from Amana, Goodman, Carrier, Aprilaire, and other national brands, but can service equipment from most manufacturers. Full maintenance plans are available, including summer and winter check-ups.

Although Covenant works in the residential and commercial markets, Richmond said they emphasize residential and work directly with the homeowner.

In addition to complete heating and air conditioning design, sales, installation, and service, Covenant has built a strong reputation for indoor air quality and plumbing. Certified experts help homeowners breathe easier with systems to remove harmful contaminants, odors, and allergens. Among the services are duct cleaning, humidity control, UV lighting, and air scrubbers.

On the plumbing side, licensed plumbers take care of “anything in the home that has water in it,” whether it is in the kitchen, bathroom, basement, or some other area of the home. From leak repairs and unclogging drains to fixture installation, tankless water heaters. and radiant heat systems, Covenant puts water to work to enhance the homeowner’s life.

The name Covenant and the cross that feature prominently in the company logo offer clues to the vision of Frank and Pam Shearer when they founded this faith-based organization in 2004.

“Our mission is to bring glory and honor to our heavenly father by being the premier HVAC company in the region,” Richmond said. “We want to have integrity in all aspects of our business, not just the customer service, but also with the people who work for us and with their communities.”

“We do have people that contact us specifically because we are faith based,” he added.

Customer satisfaction is evident in the positive reviews and testimonials at www.yourcovenant.com, and in the WEEK Viewer’s Choice Award, which was recently presented to Covenant the second year in a row in both the plumbing and HVAC categories.
