The Pekin Lions Club in conjunction with the Lions of Illinois Foundation are collecting sneakers for recycling. We collect shoes in any condition but they must be a pair and tied together with the shoelaces. This program provides for two great projects. The first one provides tennis shoes to children in 3rd world countries. The second one is an environmental issue in that the shoes are sent to be recycled vs. going into a landfill.
