Students Awarded Certificates of Recognition

On May 13, 2024, State Representative Travis Weaver paid a visit to Pekin Community High School to honor five outstanding students with Certificates of Recognition. These certificates are awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievements or contributions in their respective fields or communities. This form of recognition serves not only as a commendation but also as a public acknowledgment of a person’s hard work and dedication, fostering motivation and inspiration among their peers.
The recipients included Kristen Porter, recognized for her extensive involvement in academic and extracurricular activities such as serving as president of Educators Rising and participating in the National Honor Society. Alina Vang was acknowledged for her leadership roles, including her presidency of the Key Club and participation in the Close Up trip to Washington, D.C., where she excelled in simulation activities. Harley Tovrea received commendation for his leadership in JROTC and his contribution to a significant veterans project in Tazewell County.
Also recognized were Alexis Johnson, who has taken on multiple leadership roles and is pursuing a degree in astrophysics; and Raegan Caldwell, who was recognized as the top chapter leader in Illinois for Best Buddies. Each of these students has shown exemplary dedication to their education and their community, making them worthy of this special recognition from Representative Weaver. Their accomplishments not only highlight their individual capabilities but also reflect the vibrant academic community at Pekin Community High School.
