Kiwanis Club of Pekin
Your local Kiwanis Club of Pekin had a very busy June! We exist to serve the children of the world and feel fortunate to serve the children of Pekin. In the beginning of June, we invested in the lives of children in our community by awarding grants to local organizations serving in a variety of ways. We were able to support Pathways Youth Soccer Camp, Pekin Pride Soccer Club, The Hope Chest, Shade Memorial Youth Camp, Tazewell County Health Department, Pekin Altrusa Club, Jeep Creep for St. Jude, Pekin School of Music, Adult and Teen Challenge, and Camp Hope.
We also offer scholarships to local students who have actively participated in Key Club through their high school career. Congratulations to John Kroll, Ruh Patel and Alina Vang! We wish you the best as you pursue the next step in your educational journey!
On Saturday, June 7, we hosted our annual Ralph T. Bower Bike Rodeo, where we gave away 23 bikes along with fitted helmets for every attendee. With a bike safety course to help learn ways to stay safe on bicycles and representatives from a variety of resources, our local children had a blast! Thank you to the Pekin Police Department, Pekin Fire Department, OSF HealthCare, Advanced Medical Transport, Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, and all the Kiwanis Club members and family members who came out for a day of fun!
