Pekin Rotary: Serving Our Community With Purpose
For more than a century, Rotary has united neighbors, leaders, and problem-solvers around one simple motto: “Service Above Self.” The Pekin Rotary Club proudly carries that mission forward, combining local service with Rotary International’s seven core causes — the areas of focus that guide Rotarians around the world.
These causes include: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water and sanitation, improving maternal and child health, supporting education, growing local economies, and protecting the environment.
While these priorities are global, their impact is deeply local. One recent example is Pekin Rotary’s support of the Tazewell County Health Department’s 21st Century Schools Program. Through a community grant, Rotary helped expand after-school learning opportunities for students — providing enriched educational activities, academic support, and a safe, structured environment beyond the school day. This project directly reflects Rotary’s commitment to supporting education and strengthening the well-being of young people in our community.
Pekin Rotary also awards annual grants to nonprofits that serve youth, expand literacy, support recovery, and enrich the lives of families in our community. These small but mighty investments help local organizations grow, innovate, and continue their meaningful work.
Rotary believes that lasting change happens when people come together with purpose. That’s why our members volunteer, fundraise, mentor, and build partnerships that reflect both Rotary’s global vision and Pekin’s local needs.
If you’re inspired to learn more or get involved, we welcome you. Together, we can create positive change — here in Pekin and around the world.
