Rotary - Where Friendships and Service Begin

With social media and the constant stream of news we consume, the world can sometimes feel stressful and divided. But when we step away from the screens and interact face to face — in small groups working toward a common goal — we’re reminded of something important: people are good.

Service organizations like Rotary create those opportunities.

The Pekin Mobile Diner began with one Rotarian and one idea — a simple desire to help feed members of our community. That idea was embraced by the club and grew into decades of Rotarians working side by side to raise funds and support the program.

Over time, more ideas followed. Scholastic Awards Night, Rotary Park, and the William Holman Scholarship all began as ideas shared among members. Each became a lasting project because people came together with a common goal and a willingness to serve.

Technology has changed how we communicate, but it can’t replace the connections formed when people gather, serve, and share experiences together.

Maybe it’s time to turn the tide — to return to a time when we dine together, serve together, and build lasting friendships.

It all starts with one idea. A team forms. Connections grow. Communities change.
And along the way, lifelong friendships are made.

The Rotary meets at noon on Wednesdays at the Miller Center. Guests are always welcome. To learn more, visit PekinRotary.com or email [email protected]
