The PCHS theatre department has put together a sensational show for the spring musical. Peyton Bushong, Sophomore and actor at PCHS, describes the musical as “hilarious, catchy, heartwarming, and iconic.” 

Bushong is one of the many astounding actors in the musical. Other actors include Dylan Elam, Brooklynn Garcia, Owen Cain, Jenson and Jaxon Schulze, and many others!

Bushong says the musical is “a jukebox musical full of ABBA songs that many people recognize and love.” She’s right — who doesn’t love ABBA?

Mamma Mia! is a very popular Broadway musical and movie that many people may have seen. Even if you haven’t seen it, the title may still sound familiar because it is so well known. 

The musical follows the story of bride-to-be Sophie and her mother, Donna. Sophie is looking for her real father to walk her down the aisle. She invites three men from her mother’s past that her mom will then have to come face to face with. The audience follows the two women through the spontaneous and dramatic story, singing and dancing along in their seats!

When asked about the show’s appeal, Elam said, “people should come and watch for the engaging story, but also the humor!” 

Senior actor, Isabella Halverson, who plays Sophie, believes “everyone should come see the musical because it is going to be amazing, and the music is iconic.”

Drama teacher and head director Nick Ulferts said, “PCHS puts on a musical once every two years, so most of these students have never been a part of one before. This show is going to be very exciting, and we hope that everyone can come out and support our hardworking cast.”

So, get ready to laugh, cry and sing along with this fantastic rendition of the musical put on by your very own Pekin High School students!
