June was an exciting month for the Kiwanis Club of Pekin! On June 9, we teamed up with the Pekin Park Camp for our annual Bike Rodeo. We hosted an incredible afternoon focused on fun, safety, and community for our local kids! From navigating the bicycle obstacle course to learning essential safety tips, it was wonderful to see so many over 120 smiling faces out at the Memorial Arena Parking Lot. We got to send 24 lucky kids home with brand new bikes! A huge event like this takes all hands on deck! We want to extend a special thank you to our local EMTs, firefighters, and the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department for coming out to support the kids, share their expertise, and help keep everyone safe!
Our dedicated Kiwanians & Key Club members were hard at work setting up early, directing traffic, and guiding the campers through the course. A massive thank you to the Pekin Park Camp for partnering with us, and to all of our amazing volunteers who stepped up to lend a hand and make today a huge success. Every extra hand truly makes a difference in empowering the youth of our community!
On June 16, we turned our fundraising into a grand total of $7,950 in community grants to 12 amazing local organizations, alongside $2,000 in scholarships to two outstanding Key Club Students!
Every single one of these recipients works tirelessly to support, educate, and uplift the children of Pekin. We are so proud to partner with them and invest in their missions. Seeing how these funds will be put to work reminds us exactly why we love serving Pekin. Thank you to our members, our community partners, and everyone who makes this impactful work possible!
