The Tazewell 4-H Show and Jr. Fair is set for Monday, July 27 through Wednesday, July 29 at Mineral Springs Park in Pekin. The 4-H members are excited to share their projects and animals. Everyone is excited to participate in all the special events.

The 4-H Show and Jr. Fair is a free, family-friendly event open to the public. Each day will feature hands-on activities provided by area organizations like Storytime by local libraries, art station by IL Art Station, STEM activities taught by 4-H Teen Teachers, and many more.

Some of the other kid friendly activities include Chalk Art Contest, Pekin Fire Department Fire Safety, Kona Ice Truck, K-9 Units demonstration, 4-H Rocket Launch, robotics demonstration, and Ready Set Ride Bicycle Safety. There will also be the Clover Hunt Scavenger Hunt going on all three days.

Some of the annual 4-H Show highlights include Horse Grand Entry Monday at 5 p.m. followed by Ice Cream Social at 6 p.m. On Tuesday the livestock shows include poultry and goat, with most livestock exhibited on Wednesday: swine, dairy, beef, sheep, and rabbit. The Youth Project Auction is Wednesday at 6 p.m. The auction is a wonderful way for donors to support and encourage the 4-H members to continue to develop and master the skills learned with their 4-H projects.

The 4-H Show and Jr. Fair is a free event focused on showcasing 4-H members’ exhibits as well as giving families a safe event to have fun together.

The invitation is also extended to get involved in the fair as a volunteer. There are a variety of volunteer roles available for all ages, skills, and times available. Contact Abbie Phillips at the University of Illinois Extension office for all the details, 309-347-6614 or [email protected].
