The Avanti’s Event Center… aka the Avanti’s Dome, Pekin Dome, Dragon’s Dome, or just the “Dome”… has been a part of Pekin for 20 years. Yes, the “bubble” as we call it went down in the Summer of 2021. However, the Event Center itself has never closed. This entire time we have been hosting a wide variety of events both public and private. Including, but not limited to: Fundraisers, vendor & craft shows, car shows, Dodge Viper Autocross, Corvette Autocross, softball tournaments, concerts, weddings & wedding receptions, birthday parties, Sports Card n’ Collectors Shows, and Murder-Mystery Dinners, just to name a few. 

I’d like to talk a little bit about the last two types of events listed. On Saturday, April 19th we hosted our 11th Sports Card n’ Collectors Show. This event brings people from all over Illinois with collectors and vendors from St. Louis to Chicago, from Quad Cities to Indiana to buy, sell, and trade all types of cards from Baseball, Football, Hockey, Basketball, MMA, Pokémon, Magic, etc… as well as Funko Pops, jerseys, Legos, comics, and more. Local grading company DGA is on hand to grade cards for the serious collectors. There is something for everyone, and admission is free. With roughly 50 vendor tables (or more) every event and anywhere from 600 to 1200 people through the doors, you are bound to find something you like. Or just relive your childhood memories. The next one is July 12th.

On Saturday, May 24th we will be hosting our monthly Murder-Mystery Dinner with Die Laughing Entertainment. If you enjoy dinner, comedy, drama, and possibly murder, then this event is for you. This month’s is titled  “Mother Dearest”  the Mother of the Year Awards and has a Mommy Dearest + Leave It to Beaver Feel. You are bound to be entertained while enjoying a good meal.
