The Pekin Woman’s Club
The Pekin Woman’s Club was established in 1893 and is the oldest club in Pekin. Its members consist of women from Pekin and the surrounding communities.
The Pekin Woman’s Club is a service organization dedicated to serving the community. Through its fundraising efforts, they make annual donations to the Living Alternatives Resource Center, the Salvation Army, Pekin Outreach Center, Pekin Public Library, Tazewell County Museum, YWCA Literacy Program, the Boys & Girls Club, the Veterans Assistance Food Pantry, 4-H, the Miller Center, and TAPS. Other donations are made as needed or requested. They also give a scholarship each year to a Pekin Community High School senior girl.
The Pekin Woman’s Club meets eight months a year at the First Methodist Church. Each meeting consists of a program or speaker, a business meeting, and refreshments or lunch. The meetings are on the second Friday of the month, beginning at 12 noon.
The Pekin Woman’s Club currently has eighteen members and is looking to add to that number. They are looking for new members of all ages and interests.
