Mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 3rd, because downtown Pekin is about to come alive with the sights, sounds, and—most importantly—flavors of the Taste of Pekin 2025. This beloved annual event, hosted by Pekin Main Street, is back and bigger than ever, featuring over 28 food vendors from Pekin and neighboring communities, each ready to serve up their most mouthwatering creations.

From sizzling street tacos to pizza, and sno cones, Italian beef, and wings, the culinary lineup promises something for every palate. Whether you're a fan of comfort food classics or adventurous bites, you’ll find plenty to savor. But Taste of Pekin isn’t just about the food—it’s a full-on celebration of community spirit.

“This is a great community event packed with family-friendly, affordable fun,” says Colette Willoughby, Taste of Pekin Chairperson. “It’s a chance for neighbors to connect, local businesses to shine, and families to make lasting memories.”

This year’s entertainment will feature a quirky twist: a live “Gong Show” talent competition. Expect the unexpected as brave performers take the stage to showcase their skills—or lack thereof—with the audience and judges ready to ring the gong if things go sideways. It’s all in good fun and sure to keep the crowd laughing.

In addition to the Gong Show, attendees can enjoy music and kids’ activities. Admission free, and ticket prices $1 to ensure everyone can join in the festivities.

Taste of Pekin 2025 kicks off at 5pm and runs until 8pm. Come hungry, bring your friends, and prepare for a night that celebrates everything that makes Pekin special.
