Miles of Madness Endurance Event to Benefit TAPS This Fall

The inaugural Miles of Madness Endurance Event is scheduled to take place at the Pekin Sports Complex on September 27–28, 2025. This event offers a distinctive challenge while supporting local animals in need.

Hosted by Running to Help, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the event will feature 2-, 6-, 12-, and 24-hour run/walk races held on a looped course. All proceeds go to Tazewell Animal Protective Society (TAPS), which shelters, cares for, and finds homes for homeless pets.

Frank Hardy, founder and chairperson, emphasized the dual focus of the event: “Every mile counts—not just for the participants, but for the animals who depend on TAPS. Participants are invited to challenge themselves while making a meaningful contribution to a vital cause.”

Participants may enter individually or as members of relay teams. In addition, registrants are encouraged to maximize their impact for TAPS by seeking sponsorships from friends and family for each mile completed.

The event promises a vibrant atmosphere, with games, music, a well-equipped aid station, and enthusiastic spectators fostering a positive environment. The course has been designed to offer a safe and energetic setting suitable even for those undertaking the full 24-hour challenge.

All ages and fitness levels are welcome—from first-time walkers to seasoned ultra-distance athletes. According to Hardy, the event’s supportive community spirit ensures an inclusive experience for anyone seeking to test their endurance while giving back to a worthy cause.

Space is limited; early registration is recommended.
