Pekin Woman's Club Established 1893
The Pekin Woman's Club met on Friday, November 14, at the First Methodist Church. The program for the meeting was presented by Katrina Sotomayor entitled "Songs of Christmas Past." The program consisted of slides from the DAR museum along with the history of several popular Christmas songs. Members sang along during the presentation. Thought for the Day was presented by Diane Owens. Two new members and two guests were welcomed at the meeting. After the business portion of the meeting, refreshments were served.
The December meeting will be held on December 12 at the First Methodist Church. It will be the annual Christmas party with a tea beginning at 12 noon. Following the tea, Christmas bingo and a Christmas gift exchange will be held. There will also be a collection of personal care items that will be distributed between the PCHS Dragons Closet and the care rooms at the two Pekin junior highs. Guests are always welcome at the Pekin Woman's Club meetings.
Pekin Woman's Club is the oldest community service club in Pekin being established in 1893. Membership is open to all women in the area. For the safety of our members, we do not meet in January and February.
