Dragon Media is a club, activity, and potential job preparation opportunity open to all students here at Pekin Community High School (PCHS).

Club sponsor Eric Meyers explained what the club does: “Dragon Media is a club/activity/job that is here at PCHS. We create and publish the livestreams for our various sports programs, as well as create the content for and run the videoboards during athletic (and academic events).”

Club member Ethan Wolfe shared his favorite parts of Dragon Media. “My favorite part of it is just getting to call and work games with some of my closest friends and form bonds with my colleagues.”

Dragon Media isn’t only bringing the game action to viewers – it’s also connecting families who aren’t able to attend in person.

As much as the program gives students opportunities, it also gives families and community members a chance to be part of the fire the Pekin Dragons bring.

“I chose to be a part of this to grow my career, since I want to be a play-by-play announcer after I leave Pekin, and Dragon Media will gain me experience in that field,” Wolfe said while discussing his plans after high school. He expressed that it all became possible because of Dragon Media.

Dragon Media doesn’t only stream sports. “We publish all the football games, both girls’ and boys’ basketball, PCHS Band Concerts, Vespers, and other shows! We also stream NHS inductions and Graduation each spring,” Meyers said. He also added, “We provide an avenue for individuals who might not be able to travel to Pekin to see their favorite sports teams in action — think grandparents in Florida, family in Arizona, and even people who live in Pekin but are unable to make it to a game or event.”

This means Dragon Media makes an impact on more than just the Pekin community. It allows people from other states to witness the fire the Dragons bring.

All of the events filmed by Dragon media are free to watch on YouTube.
