Promoting Healthy Smiles at the YWCA Early Learning Center
Our preschool classrooms at the YWCA Early Learning Center welcomed a special visitor from Just Kids Dentistry, a local pediatric dental practice. The visit was part of our ongoing partnership with the dental group, which supports our commitment to fostering healthy habits from an early age.
During the engaging session, the dental representative spoke with the children about the importance of brushing their teeth and maintaining good dental hygiene. The presentation included fun, age-appropriate demonstrations on how to properly brush and floss, helping children understand the importance of keeping their teeth clean and strong.
In addition to dental care, the discussion also focused on healthy versus unhealthy foods. Children learned how the foods they eat can affect their teeth and overall health. Through interactive conversation and visual examples, they discovered which snacks help build healthy smiles and which ones can cause cavities.
To make the experience even more exciting, each child received a goody bag filled with dental-themed items to take home—encouraging them to continue practicing what they learned in the classroom.
This initiative is one of many ways the YWCA Early Learning Center integrates health and wellness education into its preschool curriculum. By partnering with local organizations like Just Kids Dentistry, we aim to provide our students with the knowledge and tools they need to build lifelong healthy habits.
