Work-based Learning & Other Opportunities
Pekin High School is seeking both students who want to complete a Work-Based Learning (WBL) experience and employers who want to mentor students in their WBL courses.

The deadline for students to confirm a placement and get the paperwork to Mr. Steger for the 2026-27 school year is May 15th.

Work-Based Learning is like a co-op, apprenticeship, or internship except that students must have coursework related to the job they are seeking and a desire to pursue that career.

  • It can be paid or volunteer.
  • Students are released for two hours at the beginning or end of the school day.
  • WB Learners must be seniors graduating in the Spring of 2027, which usually means that they will be seventeen or eighteen years old.

If this interests you, please contact Mr. Steger at [email protected]

On another note, students of all ages may be seeking jobs. If you are an employer looking for employees, send the posting along with age requirements to Mr. Steger, and he will post it on our job posting board.

  • Send it in now to be ready for Work-Based Learning possibilities and those soon-to-be graduates looking for their first rung on their career ladder.
  • We will host a Job Fair on April 28, so if you are looking for summer hires or to hire upcoming graduates, be sure to talk with Mrs. Jennifer Anderson at [email protected] or Mr. Steger at [email protected].
