The Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Office held a Press Conference on Wednesday, February 4th, at 2pm in the County Clerk’s Office in the McKenzie Building in Downtown Pekin to unveil the new March 17th 2026 Primary Election “I Voted” Stickers. These five designs have been submitted by students from throughout Tazewell County and the Tazewell County Board voted on their favorite designs. The five students selected participated in the Press Conference, receiving the first “I Voted” Sticker featuring their winning design and received a plaque from the Tazewell County Clerk featuring their winning design.
The five students recognized at the Press Conference are:
A. Nicolette Shay of Pekin Community High School
B. Addison Morris of Pekin Community High School
C. Nora Gosnell of Pekin Community High School
D. Adelaide Boldt of Washington Central Grade School
E. Lily Jones of Pekin Edison Junior High School
The Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Office solicited designs for the new “I Voted” Sticker from students at all Tazewell County Schools. The only requirement was the design reflect our nation’s America 250 Celebration. All the submitted designs from the students were presented to the Tazewell County Board on September 24, 2025, at which time the County Board Members voted on what would be the winning design.
The results of that vote by the County Board was so close, and the designs submitted so amazing, the County Clerk decided to select 5 winning designs rather than just one. All five winning designs will be utilized in this March 17th Primary Election.
“We asked the students for their assistance in designing this ‘I Voted’ Sticker in celebration of America 250. The result of this request was yet another example of the students of this county exceeding expectations and filling us with pride in the quality and quantity of their artwork,” stated Tazewell County Clerk & Recorder of Deeds John C. Ackerman. “I am extremely proud to share these five unique ‘I Voted’ Stickers with the citizens of Tazewell County!”
Also announced at the Press Conference was a new Election Judge Recognition Initiative. All Tazewell County Election Judges will now receive a unique collector button individualized for each election they serve and given as a small display of appreciation for their community service. “Each election we have over 500 Election Judges working. The overwhelming majority of these Election Judges have worked numerous previous elections. This new individualized unique collector button will visually display their years, in many cases multiple decades, of service as an Election Judge,” stated County Clerk Ackerman.
Early voting for the March 17th Primary Election is now under way.
