Something for Everyone
Showcasing Central Illinois
Designed to blend nationally touring artists with the charm and hospitality of small-town Illinois, River & Rails Fest promises to deliver a full weekend experience for attendees traveling from communities throughout the region.
Festival organizers say the event was created to bring together people of all ages for an unforgettable summer weekend filled with music, memories, and entertainment.
“River & Rails is more than just a concert,” promoter Scott Helms shared. “It’s a full festival experience. Whether you come for the live music, the carnival, the food, the car show, or simply a fun weekend with friends and family, there’s something here for everyone.”
The festival will feature performances from a lineup of nationally recognized country and rock artists, including Chris Janson, Parmalee, Chayce Beckham, George Birge, Vincent Mason, Will Moseley, Daughtry, and Dirty Honey.
From high-energy country anthems to rock favorites, organizers believe the diverse lineup will attract music fans from across Central Illinois and beyond.
But the entertainment extends far beyond the stage.
Attendees can also enjoy carnival rides and games, food vendors, shopping vendors, family-friendly attractions, and the River & Rails Midway Motor Show, adding even more excitement throughout the weekend.
A Festival Experience Close to Home
For many residents across Central Illinois, attending major concerts or festivals often means traveling to larger cities like Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, or Nashville.
River & Rails Fest aims to bring that same large-scale entertainment experience closer to home.
Located at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, the festival offers a scenic outdoor venue with plenty of room for live entertainment, midway attractions, and festival activities while remaining easily accessible for attendees throughout the region.
Organizers say one of the goals of River & Rails is to create a destination event that feels exciting and energetic while still maintaining the welcoming atmosphere that smaller communities are known for.
“There’s something special about festivals in smaller communities,” Helms explained. “People are friendly. The atmosphere feels welcoming. You can enjoy incredible entertainment while still feeling comfortable and connected to the people around you.”
For attendees traveling from neighboring communities, the festival offers an opportunity to enjoy a summer getaway without the stress and expense of traveling long distances.
Supporting Local Communities
Beyond entertainment, River & Rails Fest also places a strong focus on community involvement and local partnerships.
Organizers have worked with businesses, nonprofits, and organizations throughout the area to help ensure the festival creates a positive impact both inside and outside the festival grounds.
Through sponsorships, vendor opportunities, and community fundraising partnerships, River & Rails aims to create benefits that extend throughout the region.
Local businesses are expected to see increased traffic during the festival weekend as visitors dine at restaurants, purchase gas, shop locally, and stay in nearby hotels.
In addition, nonprofit organizations such as the Chillicothe Parks Foundation, various local school districts and community groups have opportunities to participate through promotional partnerships that allow them to raise funds while helping spread awareness about the festival.
“We want this to feel like a regional event that communities throughout Central Illinois can rally around,” Kevin Yates of the Chillicothe Parks Foundation said. “When people attend River & Rails, they’re not only supporting the festival, they’re also supporting local businesses, organizations, and the surrounding communities.”
Something for Everyone
One of the unique aspects of River & Rails Fest is the variety of experiences it offers for all ages and interests. Families can spend the day enjoying carnival rides, games, food vendors, and activities together, while groups of friends can take in the energy of a vibrant festival atmosphere throughout the weekend. Car enthusiasts will enjoy exploring the River & Rails Midway Motor Show, and music fans will have the opportunity to experience nationally touring artists in a scenic outdoor setting.
Organizers say they intentionally designed the event to offer something for nearly everyone.
“We wanted River & Rails to feel inclusive,” Helms explained. “You don’t have to be a hardcore concertgoer to enjoy the festival. You can come spend the afternoon walking the midway, eating great food, listening to live music, and making memories with the people you came with.”
That combination of entertainment, variety, and atmosphere is what organizers hope will set River & Rails apart.
Showcasing Central Illinois
Organizers also believe events like River & Rails Fest help shine a positive spotlight on Central Illinois communities.
In recent years, smaller communities across the country have increasingly used festivals and tourism events to create excitement, attract visitors, and strengthen local identity.
River & Rails Fest represents that same vision for the Chillicothe area and surrounding communities.
“This region has so much to offer,” Yates shared. “Great people, beautiful parks, strong local businesses, and communities that care about supporting one another. We want River & Rails to celebrate all of that.”
As anticipation continues to build, organizers say they are excited to welcome attendees from across the region for what they hope will become a new summer tradition in Central Illinois.
River & Rails Fest will take place at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe July 23-25, 2026.
