Pekin Community Nears Finish Line in Fundraising for Steven D. Skinner Performing Arts Venue
The Pekin community is being called on once more to help bring a transformative local project across the finish line. The Steven D. Skinner Performing Arts Venue—an initiative funded entirely through private donations to the Pekin Park Foundation—is now in its final phase, with fundraising efforts just under $200,000 short of total project costs. Community leaders say the venue stands as a testament to what can be accomplished when residents, businesses, and supporters come together with a shared vision for the future.
“We are incredibly close to the finish line, and this venue truly represents the heart of our community,” said Rich Kriegsman. “Every donation brings us one step closer to opening a space that will serve Pekin for generations. We’re asking everyone who believes in this project to help us complete it. We believe the park concerts add a slice of Americana to our otherwise hectic world. ”
The performing arts venue is expected to serve as a vibrant hub for entertainment, cultural enrichment, and community gatherings for years to come. From live music and theatrical performances to local events and celebrations, the space will provide opportunities for residents and visitors alike to connect and engage. This summer, the venue will be home to the Pekin Park Concert Band, the Peoria Area Senior Citizens Band, and the River Valley Big Band. It will once again be the Entertainment Stage for the Pekin Marigold Festival and to the Pekin Park District’s PAV Parties. Follow these organizations on social media or follow Discover Pekin online or on Facebook for event details. Private rentals are also available.
As the project nears completion, organizers are encouraging the community to contribute to this final push.
